This holiday affair kicks off with Reindeer Romp daily (except December 25) and its spectacular nighttime holiday event L.A. Zoo Lights (every evening except for Dec 24, and Dec 25). The fun continues with two exclusive Holiday Happy Hours (for the 21+ crowd), as well as a fun Family New Year’s Eve for everyone. So many exciting events that your family can all enjoy this holiday season!
This past Saturday, our family was invited to the Los Angeles Zoo to celebrate their seasonal Reindeer Romp. The Reindeer Romp is one of our family’s favorite LA Zoo events. Reindeer Village features a reindeer talk, visits with Santa Claus, craft station and fun photo backgrounds for the family to take pictures.
My three-year-old daughter had only read about reindeer in books. To see them in real life, blew her away. She loved listening to the expert reindeer keepers talk, was able to touch old horns, and drew her own reindeer headband to wear around the zoo.
USA Today picked the LA Zoo as one of its “10 Best Zoo Lights” because of its brilliant display of lights and animation. Guests can walk around and take in the gorgeous disco ball forest, whimsical 3-D animations, a glowing “Northern Lights” (with animal constellations), and a kaleidoscopic savanna where glowing, large-scale animals roam!
And finally, don’t forget to check out the exclusive Holiday Happy Hours and Family New Year’s Eve to end the holiday season with your family. The New Year’s eve extravaganza includes dinner, dessert, drinks, games, a DJ Dance party, carousel ride, and live broadcast of New York’s Times Square ball drop! Such a cool way to ring in the new year with your loved ones.
Beyond the special holiday events, the zoo has so many cool things for little ones of all ages. Families can
- watch tigers playing in their pen
- see zebras rolling around and playing together
- feed the giraffe
- watch lions cuddle and nap
- take a tram ride around zoo
- listen to one of many talks by zoo experts
- watch one of many intriguing shows
- or get close-up views in the reptile den.
Your little ones will not want to leave the zoo!
