I think it’s safe to say that peanut butter and chocolate is one of the best food combinations in the world. And of course, what better way to enjoy this classic mix than fudgy, gooey, homemade peanut butter brownies!?

Our chocolate peanut butter brownies are baked with cocoa powder, sugar, mini peanut butter cups, and vanilla. Then peanut butter is swirled into the batter right in the pan before baking. You don’t even need to add frosting to this peanut butter brownie recipe.

After cooling, the brownies are then sliced into squares, ready to serve. You’ll go crazy for the flavor and texture of this rich, decadent traditional brownie — it’s chewy and moist, perfect when served with a glass of ice cold milk or topped with a scoop of cool and creamy ice cream.

You won’t want to return to boxed mixes after seeing how amazing this homemade version is.

How to Make Peanut Butter Brownies

Begin by lining an 8×8 baking dish with parchment paper and preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Next, over medium heat, stir together butter, milk, and sugar until it just starts to boil. Remove from heat.

Stir in chocolate chips until melted and smooth.

Let the chocolate cool for about 5 minutes and then whisk in eggs and vanilla.

Stir in 1/2 cup flour, salt, and baking soda until just combined.

In a small bowl toss peanut butter cup pieces and 2 T flour. The flour helps them spread evenly in the batter, instead of all sinking to the bottom.

Next, fold peanut butter cups into the batter.

Then, pour brownie batter into the prepared baking dish.

Using a small cookie scoop place dollops of peanut butter on top of the batter. Use a knife to swirl the peanut butter through the top of the batter.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Let cool slightly before slicing. Enjoy!!

Can You Freeze Peanut Butter Brownies?

You can store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to four days. You can also wrap them tightly and place in the freezer for up to three months.

If freezing, I would suggest slicing into squares first so that it’s easy to take them out individually. You can leave them thaw on the counter or warm them in the microwave.
